The Golden Boy stopped by the office today. Most people recognize Oscar as an Olympic athlete and World Champion boxer, but even more impressive than his athletic accomplishments are his contributions to the neighborhood he is from. In April of 2000 the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center opened its doors to the community of East Los Angeles. A special unit of the White Memorial Medical Center which he funded in memory of his mother who passed of cancer at the age of 39. In 2009 he inaugurated the Oscar De La Hoya Animo charter high school in Boyle Heights. De la Hoya donated $1 million to establish the school and a local boxing program that's part of the campus. They say what you give to others is a reflection of your character. Indeed Oscar is in a class of his own.
