Long time member of Mexico Soccer and the Del Rio Academy Michael Hernandez, captured the bronze medal at this year's Los Angeles International Jiu-Jitsu Open. Hosted by the North American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, this event welcomed over 1800 competitors to the Cerritos College campus in one of the areas biggest tournaments. The conditioning he received on the soccer field, along with the competitive play and practice he receives week in and week out, contributed to his successful transition to the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We have witnessed many of our current and former players successfully transition into various other sports, such as American Football, Rugby, Volleyball, and Mixed Martial Arts. It is a proven fact that athletes who compete in two or more sports have a better chance of receiving an athletic scholarship. So to all the kids out there that love soccer and are considering trying other sports, go for it!
